About Us

We are a pretty typical family of 5, soon to be 6, living in a suburb of Dallas, Texas.  My wife and I met in college and have been married for 17 years.  Our oldest son Brandon is getting ready to start his junior year of high school and most recently got his driver's license (God help me!).  Brooke is just 13 months behind her older brother, and is going in to her sophomore year of high school, and will be getting her learner's permit soon (there goes my insurance rates!!!).

Our youngest son Bryce is 3, and is definitely the center of our family's attention - at least for now.  Boy does he have a big adjustment coming soon!  He does understand he has a little brother coming soon, at least as much as a 3 year old can comprehend it.  Just the other day, I heard my wife tell him "Your my little angel", and Bryce replied "No, Brent is your little angel".  So, I think he at least comprehends he's about to have some competition for mom's attention :)

I work for a major insurance company, which on most days is more interesting than what you might imagine.  I grew up thinking I would go into some type of law - FBI, detective, attorney.  Then I went through my phase where I wanted to be an NBA ball player (I'm a die-hard Chicago Bulls fan!).  Once I realized I wasn't tall enough for that, I thought I might combine my interest in law and sports into becoming a sports agent, but life had other plans.  But, the insurance industry has been overall very stable and good for my family and I.

My wife is currently a stay-at-home mom, but prior to that was an elementary school teacher for many years.  She graduated college with a commercial art degree, and is a talented painter and artist, though the demands of being a mom don't allow her much time for creative pursuits outside of play-doh and washable markers :P  Her current passion is learning more about her Christian faith through the study of apologetics.

Our teenagers are typical for the most part, though neither have been much into sports.  Both do well in school.  Brandon was on the debate team last year and is into computers (mostly gaming!).  He recently was selected for a dual credit program through his high school where he will be studying Cyber Security.  This will allow him to get his first year of college credit and several certifications through Cisco all while he is still in high school - and the best part is he received a grant for the costs!

Brooke also does very well in school.  She completed her freshman year at a new charter school in Dallas and finished with straight As.  The school curriculum is very intense.  For example, they have the students take Mandarin and Spanish all 4 years. By the time they graduate, they are supposed to have their associates degree completed.  She was up late many nights studying.  I was very proud of her work ethic and dedication this past year!

We are excited to welcome Brent into our family.  We planned for him, and have been waiting for him for a long time.  We know he has some tough days ahead of him, but he has a family who is ready to support him and be there for him every step of the way!
